About the Wage Calculator Tool

This tool turns one pay figure into all the others. Type in what you earn by the hour, the month or the year, and it fills in the rest, right down to what you make every second you are at work.

You set the schedule it works from, so the numbers match how you actually work. A live timer can also count your earnings up as time passes.

What you can do

  • Convert an hourly wage to a monthly or yearly salary, and back again.
  • See your pay broken down by second, minute, hour, day, week and month.
  • Set your own hours per day, days per week and weeks per year.
  • Switch between 23 currencies.
  • Watch a live timer add up your earnings in real time.

How to use the Wage Calculator

  1. 1Pick your currency, or keep the one guessed from your region.
  2. 2Type your pay into a single field, either Hourly, Monthly or Yearly. The other two fill in for you.
  3. 3Adjust your hours per day, days per week and weeks per year to match how you work.
  4. 4Read the breakdown cards for what you earn over each length of time.
  5. 5Start the live timer if you want to watch the total tick up.

Gross pay, before tax

The figures are gross, which means before any tax, insurance or other deductions. The tool does not know your country's tax rules, so treat the yearly and monthly amounts as headline pay rather than what reaches your account. For take-home pay, run these numbers through a tax calculator for your country.

How the yearly figure is worked out

Your yearly pay is your hourly rate times the hours you work in a year, and a year of work is your hours per day times days per week times weeks per year. The defaults are 8 hours a day, 5 days a week and 52 weeks a year, which comes to 2,080 hours. Lower the weeks per year to account for unpaid time off.

Enter a resolution to get its simplified aspect ratio, or start from a ratio and one side to get the missing dimension. Knows the common ratios like 16:9, 4:3 and 21:9 and shows how close your size is to each.

Calculate AND, OR, XOR, NOT and bit shifts with a live binary view of every operand and the result. Enter numbers in decimal, hex, octal or binary and see each bit line up as you type.

Convert Unix file permissions between checkboxes, octal like 755 and symbolic notation like rwxr-xr-x, all kept in sync as you edit any of them. Covers setuid, setgid and the sticky bit, and shows the matching chmod command ready to copy.

Convert between px, rem, em, percent, pt and viewport units with a configurable root font size. Type into any field and the others update as you go, set the parent font size for em math, and read a conversion table for common sizes.

Work with dates: count the days between two dates, add or subtract a duration, get someone's exact age, and look up the ISO week number, day of year and other facts about any date.

Work out how long a download or file transfer takes from the file size and your connection speed. Handles all the common size and speed units, breaks the duration down readably, compares typical connections and can also solve for speed or file size.
